IP address has been DISABLED

[link to this post]

I'm new to thinkbroadband and set up my home IP address to be monitored beginning in February. I have BQM charts for February and March but nothing for April. At the top of the graph it shows that the Home (IP address) - DISABLED. How do I enable monitoring again?

The system does disable monitors where no responses have been seen for a long time, most common reason is you have a dynamic IP address and it has changed. So you need to check your IP address is the current run and delete the old monitor and create a new one with the new IP address

I just change the IP address in the existing one?

Just edit, then use the "Edit" button on the bottom left to save it.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up. BQM

Thanks for the quick response. I just used "What is my IP" in the tools dropdown menu and the IP is the same as already setup. it is however IPv4 but I am using a MAC OS 10.14. I have tried to create a new monitor but it indicates that "The host 98.231.200.84 is already been monitored by you." Would you still advise that I delete and setup a new monitor?

If you go to your Main Site Profile, scroll down to the BQM list (probably only has one entry) and click on View detailed list immediately below it, you get a picture of your BQM with options just under it. The second from the left I expect says Enable. Mine, that is working, says Disable.

Click the Enable smile.

In reply to a post by RobertoS:

I just setup a subdomain and use that and when I notice the IP change (email sent to me) I update my DNS Record and about 30 seconds later its back up.

I doubt if the OP knows about dynamic DNS systems tongue. Maybe you should explain, seeing as you use one. I dont. I simply queried MrSaffrons suggestion.

If the "enable" button as mentioned by RobertoS didn't fix it another possibility is that something has changed in your setup - router, config or firmware and your router is no longer responding to "pings" that the BQM relies upon to work.

Firmware and configs can be changed by some ISPs on their supplied router remotely, e.g. Sky recently did a config change to the DNS settings in some of their routers.

I use a domain name for my BQM and the domain name is automatically updated with my public dynamic IP by dynamic DNS.

So you will need a domain name - I use free domain name from FreeDNS, and something to update your DNS record, some domestic routers can do it, although some may be restricted to certain dynamic DNS providers - or if you are running some sort of server you could use that and a quick script.

I use an Asus router with Merlin firmware, which can do dynamic DNS built in for a number of providers. Updates super quick, no issues so far.

But I do agree this is beyond the very basic user level.
