Fixed Point Broadband

[link to this post]

I am sick to the back teeth with ISPs, charging a fortune to watch [censored] Tv. I have found myself watching more Netflix and Prime.
Ideally, I would like to BIN my isp and have a reliable and FAIR priced Broadband to watch more streaming content.
Looking for advice on how to achieve a broadband only package.
I have heard in rural areas of Scotland that you can have a fixed point broadband option.
If anyone can help with this information, it would be appreciated.
I am currently with Virgin Media. I live in the EH19 2PG post code area.
Thanks.

No idea what fixed point broadband is.

There is fixed line broadband - which your Virgin Media is one version.

Other version is VDSL2/Fibre to the Cabinet which is available to you and should give you speeds fast enough to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime.

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/packages shows the main options for you once you filter by postcode. Virgin Media will be at the top since they are the fastest in that postcode.

Virgin Media does offer a broadband only package, and while there are some providers using VDSL2 that can do the same the price is no different really to paying for voice + broadband.

More than a little confused with your post. Surely if watching TV over broadband this is streaming and little different from streaming Netflix or Amazon. Further there is no requirement when choosing your ISP to also pay for a streaming TV service unless you have specific requirements that aren't met by Freeview such as the various subscription streaming sport services..
