New to virgin bb but some issues

[link to this post]

Hi.

I need some help and advise please...

I’ve recently left sky for virgin m100 as it was a better deal.

A technician came and piggybacked off my neighbours brown virgin box as I don’t have a cable running to my house, I agreed to this as I need internet to work from home.

I have a virgin media team coming out in 2 weeks to lay a new connection to my property.

Here’s my issues...

The speed is averaging 108mbps when I am next to the hub 3 router and the router is in my front room.

I have next to no signal to the hub from upstairs and trying to stream Netflix in the living room (tv is approx 5 meters away from hub) is impossible as it constantly buffering.

I downloaded the virginmedia connect app to check for black spots but it’s saying it’s all perfect.

I would like to know if this issue is only temporary as I’m piggybacking off my neighbours box and once my own box is installed this issue will disappear or if this is what to expect from virgin for the next 18 months?

Thanks in advance

T

So it is WiFi that is the issue, not the actual Virgin connection.

I moved our router from the main living room (as it was near the TV and WiFi was rubbish in the bedrooms. It is now situated in the Hall above a door on a shelf. Get great WiFi all over the house.

Other option is to run some Ethernet cables and run them to your other rooms.

Thanks for replying.

Well that’s a bit [censored] to be honest as the box is in the same place my skyQ router was in and the WiFi was fine throughout.

Looks like a call to virgin is on the cards over the weekend as I’m within my 14 day cooling off period.

Every make of router is different on how well Wi-Fi works in each home.

The VM Hub 3 (most likely one you have) is fairly middle ground.

You can ask VM to provide boosters but they may slow things down.

Ethernet is always best.
