Fibre contractors

[link to this post]

In the street where I live a company called Telent have been pulling fibre cables via Openreach ducting. They say its for Openreach. At the bottom of my street a company called Netomnia have been working doing this:-

Netomnia Limited
25/10/2022, 10:00:00 - 27/10/2022, 17:00:00
Status: Granted BUILD 1 X JMF/6. LAY 2M 2 X 110 MM DUCT AND CONNECT TO EXISTING J
According to there site they have only one partner which is You Fibre. On the bidb site You Fibre have no plans for my area but Openreach have. Surely the two would not be doing fibre at the same time.

They absolutely do, more often than not.

Both Openreach FTTP and Netomnia FTTP (via YouFibre) appear to be on their way to you.

Telent are indeed an Openreach subcontractor and Netomnia only work on their own network.

A rival operator bringing FTTP usually encourages Openreach to also upgrade to FTTP to maintain their local market share.

Thank for your reply. Things may be looking up around here. Openreach have also been putting new poles in as well. I dont know if power cable replacement would be in the mix but we have had those done as well.

The same round here (Reading). In our case CityFibre FTTP went live in May and Openreach followed on within a month. Although for some reason Openreach never got as far as our street despite connecting up all the rest. Happy so far with Giganet broadband over CityFibre so not really any great loss - I dare say Openreach will eventually be back to our street.
