Adsl and pstn switch off

[link to this post]

My inital understand of the pstn switch off was isdn and pstn would be switched off (regardless of the date).

Some are suggesting adsl will be switched at the same time as pstn. I thought that wasn't the case, as there still quite a few people on adsl only capable lines

Given that SOADSL is available, it would seem that it will continue to be available. AFAIK only PSTN and ISDN are going.

Perhaps their thinking is that by 2027, SoGEA and FTTP will be available to those currently on (So)ADSL?

That was what I was told too …

I wonder what will become of all those ISDN services being used for their security ?

I would honestly be amazed if any businesses are still using ISDN, let alone consumers. Last time I even thought about ISDN I was still using dial-up!

There was, when last I checked (just over a year ago) still a fair few ISDN lines about.

I suppose there's some legacy stuff out there. POS equipment maybe. Things like that which "just work" so nobody questions it and things are just left as-is.

I do wonder if the people responsible for these connections will be proactively contacted to migrate to a supported product though.

Might be interesting in 2027 if they just turn it off and things stop working!

Source-Connect has been around for a while for that specific demographic. Not cheap, but even the major studios have to move with the times eventually!
