O2 Box vs DG834G

I've now received my O2 box, and I am currently using a DG834Gv2. Once I am switched over to O2, which modem/router should I use? In short, would I gain any benefit from using the O2 box as opposed to the DG834v2 which I am currently using?

Almost impossible to say until you try it out on your line, you will probably find that O2 will insist on using their box if you ever call support

In terms of reconfiguration of the DG834G, I am currently on ADSL with BT, and will be moving over to ADSL2+ with O2. Aside from changing the username and password, is it likely that I will have to make any other changes to the configuration?

If O2 use the same settings as Be (I don't know if they do) the settings would be encapsulation: LLC, VPI: 0, VCI: 101, with no login required.

I moved over to O2 wednesday just gone and I wanted to use my linksys wag354g to connect. However, O2 use ETHoA as their connection type. I think this is sometimes refered to as 1438 bridged. Further to this you will have to clone the MAC address of the router O2 have provided. This is because O2 authenticate their connection using the MAC address. So without it you won't be able to connect.

If your routers firmware won't allow you to enter blank username and password you can get one from O2. Even though it's not required they still generate one for cases like this.

Unfortunately, I am still unsuccessful in my quest to use my linksys router. So, good luck with yours.
