Tripadvisor is just Tripadvisor - doesn't take much working out.

I use it regularly - haven't experienced any problems today or any time.

... you know I could go on and on. Rather than a sarky reply, surely it would be easier if you just went out and said what the exact address was.

I'll be just as unhelpful now, and not bother testing it out

Hi,

As a first time forum user can I say thanks for giving a non-techie the time of day!

The web address is www.tripadvisor.com

One point I should have made clear is that my pc is linked through a router but if I connect my works laptop to the router it works fine -seems to suggest its something to do with my new pc.....

Yarwell: sorry but my very limited knowledge doesn't stretch to being able to let you know about my WAN MTU setting without you giving me a hint as to how to find it. Please get back to me & I'll delve if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks to all

can you access the router config with a web browser ? look for WAN settings or similar.

as an alternative, put 'cmd' in the Run box of start to get a command prompt window, then type 'ping www.bbc.co.uk -l 1472' hit enter and tell us what happens. (the -l is -L in lower case)

Hi Phil,

Did the ping with follow outcome:

Reply from 212.58.227.74: bytes 1472 time=19ms TTl=224

This was repeated 3 more times at 19, 20 & 29ms. Packets sent & received were both 4.

Does this help any?

Thanks,

Gary
