Once I've seen those I can pass the details onto someone who will fix it.

How long as it been stuck at 2Mbps?

Thanks guys for the help really appreciate it. my line has been like this for about 5 or 6 days btw my downstream is usually around 6000kbps its slower now because of the time of day
here is the link to my speedtest results http://aycu29.webshots.com/image/49148/2001024754335432807_rs.jpg

The comment about slower sync due to time of day is very revealing, your sync should not vary greatly due to time of day, maybe a few 100kbps but not megs.

How sure are you that there has NOT been a sync event close to 2272Kbps in the last 5 days? If convinced there hasnt then I'll pass your details on on Monday if you email me them (i.e. telephone number and link to this thread)

Hi mr saffron im very sure my speed has never gone above 2000kbps

my downstream usually decreases at peak hours it has for as long as i can remember at my current address and my previous address and will rise again around 11:30 12:00 midnight i never had speeds this slow ever only after migrating to aol from sky since the switch my throughput has never gone above 18500 approx even though my downstream tells a different story i have always been able to download between 5 to 6 mbps near enough the same as my
downstream reports if you need my telepone number i can pm you

Can you post your line stats please? If you don't know how to get them look here or here.

They should give us a clue to your sync of 4000+ when you clearly expect much more than that. Indirectly that could also give an explanation of the 2000 profile.

It is possible there has been a recent "event" that the stats will indicate.

Those stats are a bit puzzling as well but do point to something very strange going on.

The sync of 3520 after being up 35 minutes, and assuming you took the shot less than an hour before you posted, ties in with the 4064 you posted before if that was an earlier-in-the-day sync, a few hundred variation as described by MrSaffron, and to be expected.

The noise margin of 4dB is probably from a sync-time, "target", SNRM of 6dB and would be normal variation at that time of day. However we are looking for something odd happening, and it could have been the case that your target SNRM is 9dB or even higher and has sunk to 4 in 35 minutes, indicating serious noise variation problems. We really do need the stats immediately after a sync sorry .

There would seem to be either a high base noise or a high target margin or both, as both syncs are slowish for a 52dB attenuation. On a good line such as I have with low base noise and a variation of less than 3dB 24/7 then with a Linksys WAG54GS showing 52dB attenuation I sync'ed in the mid 6000s getting a 5500 profile. Replaced it with a SpeedTouch 585v6 and it showed 49dB and syncs around 7000 with a profile of 6Mb..

Those figures would just about tie in with your previous speeds around 6000. Do you happen to have any stats available from those days for us to examine as well?

Has anything in your house changed with regard to connection to the phone line - new Sky box, phone-connected burglar alarm? Any new extensions fitted or other similar changes? Any new electrical apparatus at all? New phones?

Disconnections during storms?

You haven't just moved to AOL have you? Unlikely I know, but possible.

First off thanks robertos sorry i haven't other stats Yes i just moved to aol about 8 days ago i have been reading up a bit more about a stuck ip profile and some people say it can take up to 10 days for normality to occur
is this correct? could it be i should give it a few more days and see what happens? or do you think that if my ip profile is stuck that there is a possibility it may not come unstuck please remember i am a newbie and only have a limited knowledge im still trying to read up and learn
please could you try and explain as simple as possible i do appreciate its hard work trying to explain things to newbies sometimes all i know since migrating to aol my download speed has never once gone over 2mb its stuck there. before migrating to aol i never had an issue with speed i would always get speeds roughly similar to what my downstream was reporting also i have been doing some research on my exchange and wonder if this could be a possible problem?
