How long to re-sync?

[link to this post]

After many sync loss connections, BT have today changed my 'Pair', (after 3 visits) and seemingly cured a fault going back 12 months or more.

From 160kb downstream, I'm now showing 4096, attenuation at 41db, and snr of 12db, (exhange is 2.27km distant.)

Can my ISP 'jog' the 72 hour 're-syncing' period so I achieve higher speeds, or is it a case of just counting down the hours?

You'll just have to wait - could be from 75mins to 5 days!
Normally takes 2 or 3 days.

Your IP Profile will be 3500 if you keep that sync.

Thanks, I thought it may be, but after 10 days at snail pace, there should be light at the end of the tunnel.

A high %age jump in sync should cause a profile jump to the appropriate level in a few hours, small rises can take up to 5 days. The 3-day rule went a while ago, (August possibly).

I've had a couple of big sync rises, Took about 12 hours for the profile to rise.

To get that 12dB SNRM to reduce needs a steady sync for 10-14 days. Then it re-syncs itself at 9dB in your case. Then another 10-14 days for it to drop to 6dB.

Just to clarify...
I've just re-read your thread title: How long to re-sync?

You won't need to re-sync for your IP Profile to increase - you just need to maintain that sync. You can still turn off at night etc. and as long as you don't re-connect below 4000 then you'll get a 3500 profile.

Roberto, good evening

My stats are

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 40 db 13 db
Noise Margin 9 db 22 db

Time up 7hours 43 mins

Over the past 8 days my downstream has never risen above 145kbps and attenuation has sometimes been as high as 54db, noise margin averaged about 5db. I have never seen my stats that bad.

Since BT external pair swap, this adfternoon, the above stats have held steady with only noise fluctuating between 9 and 12db.

My stats for the past 8 hours have held at

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream

Line Attenuation 40 db 13 db
Noise Margin 9 db 22 db

with only snr varying a few points. Ahuge rise from an average of 160kbps, 54db attenuation and 5db snr, so I hopefully should get a big lift overnight maybe?

As you have said to b4dger, you should expect a big rise in profile overnight to 3.5Mb - possibly already happened.

The sync won't change, but the actual download speed should go up to about around 3Mbps, (375KBps), if you have a good ISP - I forget who you are with.
