WBC 21CN profiling

Is this contrary to what you've heard before? This was discussed many moons ago, and mentioned in the news on this site if I remember rightly. Generally speaking it's an improvement over the current profiling system - it's a lot more granular at least.

Absolutely - hugely disappointed.
We'd been told there were to be many more intermediate profiling steps (rather than the large 0.5Mbps jumps in the current system).
Now we find out the only extra profiling steps are the new ones they're having to implement (because they're above 8Mbps), and then the step size goes even higher (1Mbps).
I wonder what else we'd been told is also now not happening that way?

Yes.

So far as I know only WMBC was mentioned - that being the IPStream Max equivalent. We had no details of the increments.

And as adebov says, we were told there would be a huge number of small steps - not huge 1Mbps steps.

Whether the updating time for a rise is lower I do not know yet - that was another thing we were told.

WBMC and WBC are only slightly different, both have all the exchanges amalgamating traffic to 20 primary nodes, but WBMC then collects from the 20 into one. If the profiling is required between exchanges and primary points then it'll be common to both.

Which reinforces the position that someone is either telling porkies, or is being fed duff information.
The Entanet resellers have made it quite clear there will be many more profile steps, at much smaller increments than with ADSLmax, yet the link provided in this thread shows that not to be the case.
Someone's got it wrong (or BT have been moving goalposts again), it would be nice to get an opinion from Entanet (or one of their resellers) or A&A, because nobody else is likely to know for sure (other than BT - possibly ).

the source linked is a bit apocryphal and also says "The rollout of this service started in May 2008, and could be available to your business right now. "

Initially we were told that the profile stepping would be very fine grained. Then it was later clarified that this would only apply to speeds up to 2Mb and so applies across the board on ADSL MAX and ADSL 2 services and that above that it would as currently is the case for MAX up to 8Mb and then in 1Mb/s steps upwards for ADSL 2+ services.

You've just convinced me not to make the switch (as the increased profiling steps were the only reason - as I'm getting fed up with a 0.5Mbps profile change every week, when my router drops about 64-128kbps from it's sync speed).
I guess I'll just have to wait until I move house.
