Has your exchange been WBC enabled

[link to this post]

I am just waiting for my exchange to be Broadband WBC enabled at the end of march. Looking at www.samknows.co.uk, there have been various ones that should have been enabled at the end of Feb 2009. Did these happen? I am just trying to understand if the end of march 2009 is going to happen to plan.

Some exchanges marked for enablement in March 2009 are already enabled such as Parkstone in Bournemouth.

Samknows - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/STPRKST

BT ADSL Checker - http://www.adslchecker.bt.com/pls/adsl/adslchecker.w...

Result -

For Telephone Number 01202718364 (dont worry its a takeaway) on Exchange PARKSTONE

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line rate up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 5Mbps or greater.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL2+ broadband line rate of 7Mbps or greater.

The actual stable ADSL line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This rate may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Ha, so it does look like the end of the month (March 2009) will be on for the activation of BT's ADSL WBC.

If you really want the service then keep checking the checker every few days to see if the result changes, though only a few ISPs offer ADSL2+ on 21CN. Would you not be better off with O2/ BE?

Did not think to use the BT checker to check the status. I am with entanet, and they use WBC, so will stick with them to see what service is like for 1-2 months. If no good then will move on to another provider. I am sticking around as for me the service is ok and I want to see what WBC will give me.

Still at least a year to go here if they don't delay it by yet another year. wink

Londoners first, then maybe the rest of the country will get some broadband options as usual I suppose.
