Speed drop - IP profile

My speed has dropped dramatically today on various speed test sites. I tried the bt speedtester to get speed & my IP profile but seem to have been directed to a different one which doesn't give the profile. see:

Has the bt speedtester site changed & how can I find my IP profile?

That's the old BT speed test that it sometimes puts you to if it is busy. Also if your line is no longer IPStream.

Greenbee = Waitrose = Madasafish = Plusnet I think? So maybe a question (with a link to here for replies so people don't double up).

If you are actually on a Plusnet connection then support there may be able to see it as they keep a copy. But the copy can sometimes fail to be updayed from the original BT one.

There is no other way except through the BT speed test.

It might be worth checking here for VP congestion at your exchange.

I've checked my exchange status - it's green. I'll leave it until the morning & see how it is then. I usually get 3.5 - 4.5 mbps in the evenings but earlier it was 1.5 mbps.

Speed's back up to 6850 kbps this morning!

Very unlikely to have been an IP profile issue then and with a green exchange the finger of guilt is pointing pretty steadily at your ISP.

It could have been a local noise issue I suppose (but doubt) so it would be worth checking your router stats as well as as a speedtest next time.

I did check my router stats last night & they looked pretty normal, unfortunately I didn't record them!

I have posted in the Madasafish forum to see if a rep can check.

To halve your speed without a resync (the profile is still good so it didn't resync low) would require a huge error rate. That is the main reason I don't believe the problem is your end.
