Sales Call from TalkTalk - Your views please..

[link to this post]

Hi all,
I got a call last night from TalkTalk informing me that Tiscali are in receivership and any time soon there is a good chance that my line and broadband will be cancelled.

They then went on to say that if that happened I would be charged a reconnection fee by BT if I wanted my line active again and would have to ask for a new telephone number.

Now I am aware that Tiscali are a little shaky following BSkyB dropping out of talks for their UK Broadband business, but what about the rest? Is there truth in any of their sales pitch? Sorry I mean helpful warnings!

It seems that TalKTalk must have got hold of a crystal ball.

Latest news on Tiscali I can see - http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssTechMediaTelecomN...

and - http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/indus...

neither story says they are in receivership. In fact both are fairly upbeat considering that TT could end up being correct eventually.

Maybe someone ought to tell Tiscali what TalkTalk are saying about them ?

I think Tiscali might still manage to find the money for a slander action ! laugh

If that is a TalkTalk member of staff then the answer is simple, they should be sacked as Tiscali are NOT in receivership, and if they were then in all probabilty service would not cease, but MACs would be available to move things.

I would be complaining to Ofcom and Charles Dunstune directly if what you've said is what was actually said to you

But this is what TT does, they tell lies and more lies just to get a sale. I was told three years agao that TT was going to unbundle our exchange in July, they just did not say what July. It was last year they unbuindled it. A few months back they came to my door and told me someone down the road was getting a speed of six Megabits, that was a lie as I know full well no one up here will get that evening with ADSL2+.

They told a person down the road that Plusnet was going to cease and that everyone would be put onto a new BT contract as Bt now owns Plusnet.
They lie and tell more lies.
