Moving house.

If I move house but stay on the same exchange and am able to take my existing phone number with me, other than notifying a change of address, will my ISP have to be informed or is it just a BT matter of switching wires over?

If you don't tell your ISP they'll be quite happy to bill you and keep supplying ADSL to your old address. You might be upset paying for someone else though!

I've a feeling when your phone number is removed from the old line then an ADSL cease is automatically applied.

Remember you will be on a different line from the exchange, even though the number will be the same. The ADSL is provided to the line, not to the number.

A house move from IDNet(?) is probably needed, preferably with a Sim Provide.

Thank you both. I will contact my ISP if, and when, it happens!

the "Home Mover" service is your best bet, and it isn't infallible.

There's no wire switching on the voice side, the old number could be re-assigned to the new line but the ADSL needs to be provisioned.

Thanks Phil, I will raise it with my ISP. Mind you, I have checked what the new line could be capable of and I would do much better to stay where I am frown
