new line box line still hissing

fone line doctor required!

intermittent hiss on line new line box fitted hiss still present

hiss now also when broadband modem connected to linebox via filter and fone

filter changed fones changed modems changed hiss still heard

where does the hiss come from ?

Do you get the hiss when your phone is plugged in to the test socket within the BT master socket? Have you tried a quiet line test (17070 option 2) with your broadband kit disconnected?

Do you mean a complete new master socket? If so, who fitted it?

Or do you mean an extension socket?

1 Bad connection/s in the NTE box
2 interference (could be anything from bad weather to a street light causing issues) or
3 broken/breaking cables.

Check that for starters

yes when connected to adsl filter and modem

all phones tried have been corded

Any pointers on tests to run ? Maybe less hassle to have a 2nd line installed
any recomendations and costs ?
