Netgear DG834PN Router & Wireless Security problem

[link to this post]

Hi

Having previously only used MAC filtering I've decided to set up WEP or WPA security.

Any attempt , howver , to change the security option away from 'Disabled' fails.

I can select WEP or WPA options , enter keys , and apply the changes BUT moving away to another menu and then coming back finds the Disabled option re-selected.

Hope you can help

Wierd. No problem with mine.

Have you turned off the "Access Control" on the Station Access Page? I see it only mentions WEP in the Help on that page.

Only a straw to clutch at frown, but worth a try.

Thanks for your reply

Eventually realised that although the option reverts to 'Disabled' the actual WPA key entered WAS being set.

To do a 'proper' Disable I would have to 'Apply Change' with 'Disabled' being shown as the option.

All a bit odd but what the heck ...

Very odd.

If I go to this page it shows WPA2-PSK selected.

What firmware is yours, mine is V1.03.36.

Hi

Just clicked on your link to find out and now the setting is showing correctly as
WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK !!

It seems like their is a delay before the correct setting is being displayed !!??

The version on mine is V1.03.39 which I believe is the most-up-to-date.

This is all a bit strange - never mind , it's all OK now

Thanks for your time

Lol!

You probably need to log out of the forums then log back in again. That seems to happen sometimes and I think logging out clears it. It's a while since it happened to me so I'm not sure.
