Slow during sport streaming?

[link to this post]

I was wondering if anyone else was getting major slow down when the Football and Tennis are being streamed?
As my usually quick connection gest hit for six when they are being streamed. Ping goes through the roof.
I don't watch the footie or tennis, so no I'm not adding to the problem laugh

I'm not in need of any help, as I've been monitoring this slow down behaviour for the last couple of days.
But it would be nice and informative for others if any of you are suffering the same problem.

Normal speed 2.7Mbps / 0.3Mbps can drop to 1.7Mbps / 0.1 Mbps when England are playing. Mind you that's on 3G which is (you'd have thought) more susceptible to downgrading under load.

Client in central London has ADSL which dies a death when the football is on... that's with BT. Just managed to resist saying, "you shouldn't need to make excuses for your broadband connection" smile

Hi, my broadband connection is unusable, I can now only use Dial-Up in the afternoons when a game is on. crazy

Statement from Firenet.
We are expecting some congestion and slow speed problems during other World Cup matches, but the England game is expected to cause most issues.
