Are these stats. OK

[link to this post]

My Router stats. are as follows:-

Synch. 7616 Down 448 Up
Attenuation 43 21
Noise 6 22

Do these look OK or should I be able to squeeze some more speed here?
I have tried various routers and this current model gives the best results so fsr.
I would be grateful for any comments from you switched on techie guys.

Given it appears to be ADSL only, and looks like interleaving is on you wont run any faster.

With interleaving turned off you might make 8128Kbps sync, and get a boost for downloads.

Thanks Andrew,

Yes the only LLU at my exchange is TalkTalk so I am on BT max 8MGmg

What,if any, would be the downside of having interleaving turned off and would my ISP do this?

Interleaving increases your latency so can be bad for gaming, but enables in-flight error correction so minimising the need for packets to be re-transmitted, so can be good for gaming and also for big downloads.

So really the decision depends on your error and error correction figures now, which we can see from your full stats. See here for help finding them, and if you post them we can comment. If the stats don't say how long you have been connected then have a rough guess and tell us that as well. The counts without knowing how long they have taken to add up don't tell us much.

It's only at the top speeds like yours that interleaving reduces the connection speed. There's a good explanation here on the same site.

If you PM BT_Care with your BT username and phone number, and perhaps a link to this thread, they can get it turned off for you. Trying through normal support isn't a good idea.

Strange. What router is it?

Did it show in columns before you copy and pasted? If so, what error counts were there, and were there any headings/captions?

The particular figures of interest are anything to do with RS errors and RS corrected, FECs, HECs, CRCs and error seconds (ES and/or SES).

Do you do much gaming?

Hi Robert,
Yes,the figures were in easily readable colums before I copy/pasted into my post. Incidentally, so was my first post--in the preview it was OK but when it came to be published--not so good.

My router is a Zyxel P-660HW-T1v2.Here are stats. in I hope a more readable form-

Up Time--6:52:17
Node Link PPoA TxPkts 79246 RxPkts 109881 Errors 0 Tx B/s 0 Rx B/s 0
Interface 100M/ full duplex TxPkts 95371 RxPkts 76993 Collisions 0

Unlike other routers I have had I can't see FEC's etc.

I don't do any gaming.

I'd get them to turn it off.

Assuming they turn it off but also leave it on Auto, so it turns on again if needed, then you can't lose. (The Auto setting never turns it off if not needed). But gain over 500mbps actual download speed.

It can always be turned back on anyway.

Thanks for that Robert.

On checking with the Zen site, they say that if I email them they will get it turned off.

As I said, although it has got a quirky GUI interface, this router has performed much better than the Thomson,Netgear and Billion routers I have tried before.

Cheers.

Ah, with you saying BT 8Mbps Max I thought you were on BT Broadband.

So BT_Care would have been right, but not as you are on Zen.

It will take a few days for the IP Profile to rise even after you get the 8128 sync, so don't panic about the download speed not increasing.
