We are using BT431A to RJ11 Straight through not crossed

if they work in the test socket that can't be the problem, though they aren't strictly straight through if they do work as the centre pair are active on an RJ11 and the next pair out on a 431

Both faceplates pass the line for voice i.e. pins 2 and 5 must be connected?

fair enough, you didn't say there was voice kit so just checking.

You didn't say if there are any wires on the faceplate removable part.

In reply to a post by Anonymous:
Regarding the Vigor 120, the device is acting as a PPPoA to PPPoE bridge, i.e. it doesn't have it's own IP address, rather is passing the real external IP address straight through. I don't think its possible to telnet the device in this configuration ?
I think it does/is http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor100_setup.html

Sorry Yarwell

There is no voice equipment I just tried a telephone to see if it worked. I should have made this clear. There is nothing connected to the rear of the removable plate.

OK, I think we've got this sorted. Rewired both modems with different cables and the signal is available through the plate and the downstream sync is over 19Mbps and the upstream about 1.2Mbps. I don't yet know what the issue is with the original cables we had double checked they were the correct type.

Thanks to all who posted
