diagnosis really needs data from when it's in the failed condition - like does it have an IP, can you ping the router, does nslookup work etc. You could remote access it while working and create some desktop shortcuts / batch files etc to test these things when it fails.

Well the only test that I have been able to get my relative to carry out is to open a browser and try to reach google by typing the IP address ie http:// instead of www.google.co.uk

On one occassion when the internet stopped working, she said she tried (to get google via IP addy) but could not get google to open as the last digit on the last octed failed. I could not understand what she meant either. Hope I don't get like that when / if I get to my 80s.

Does it have alternative browsers installed to check that out ?

yes tried with SeaMonkey and Opera both did not work. At the same time the Vonage ATA was working without issues.

Perhaps it was also present in v1.02.16.
I do wonder why an old inexpert relative has need of DGTeam

Well I have been running v1.02.16 rev 0848 (23o) for the last 18 months and it has held up very well no problems at all. The reason I installed that router and particular FW version was simply because it had been so stable on my system.

Oh well I will go there tomorrow (50 mile round trip) and try out some of the ideas but I really need the system to play up when I am their as that will be my best chance of success.

Thanks again for the ideas.

Cheers
