Not so. IPCP does not have a concept of 'lease time' and there is no mechanism for renewing (or releasing for that matter) the address.

The only way to do either is for one end to tear down the PPP connection such that IPCP negotiation happens again.

So this thread and any earlier ones linked to from it is total garbage and imagination by all concerned?

Including the mods to Netgear firmware made by an ISP to circumnavigate the problem?

Interesting...will read in depth but it appears that somehow they're ignoring IPCP and running DHCP over the established PPP session.

OK, so perhaps they're running LCP without IPCP.

I accept I'm no expert on the topic, I'm sure you truly know more than me about it, but that was a real problem with the Broadcom-based 834s popular on O2.

I was merely trying to find the equivalent info from the OP's Conexant-based one to see if there was anything similar causing his problem.

Though I think it was a long shot anyway as if I've understood him correctly the times are irregular anyway, and lease expiry is regular.

if only use for the 1 pc, then you do not need the router DHCP to be enabled, you just give your pc a static ip, and put the DNS ip's in router, and use router ip as dns ip on your pc, i think IIRC the DG834V5 has a bug with the DHCP could be the reason for it

The threads you have referred to have absolutely no relevance to PPP. O2 doesn't use PPPo? on its LLU products. O2 uses DHCP or STATIC on the LLU products.
There is a 'lease' period associated with DHCP - please look up the appropriate RFC (I'll let you GOOGLE it for yourself).

As stated by JonRennie, there is no lease period associated with a PPP session - again, please feel free to look up the appropriate RFC.

However, some ISPs do terminate the PPP session due to lack of activity - I have no idea why they do this. I believe the practice was quite common in Deutschland.
I do not know of any UK ISPs who terminate PPP sessions after a set period of inactivity.

Very iregular. Since my last disconnect (Monday 4am) not had one since.

I do seem to go through these spells. I once went 3 weeks without a disconnect, then got one every day for a week after that. Makes no sense and impossible to locate the problem when its so random

Anon's posting style is quite familiar though I can't put a name to it, pretty sure they are a registered user..
