FTTC rollout query

As my exchange isn't mentioned here, does this mean that I'm unlikely to ever get FTTC ?

If so then I won't ever get a faster speed than 4 Mbps

It seems odd that my exchange isn't on the rollout list as my exchange isn't small so it should be feasible.

I would have expected small exchanges to be excluded due to lack of ROI

"ever" is a long time. Excluding likely Welsh Assembly largesse I would think your exchange will get on the FTTC radar in due course as it has several LLU providers, but no cable so less competition at the higher speed.

So having LLU presence on an exchange is a good thing then ?

So if FTTC was rolled out (in the future) then are you saying that BT (Wholesale) would not be rolling out the faster FTTC packages as there is no Virgin Media presence in my area i.e. competition ?

Apparently even if your exchange has been upgraded, up to 60% of cabinets are being missed out so you probably won't be able to get it anyway !

It could be a bad thing though, as from what I've seen at a certain Lincolnshire exchange, there is so much LLU and WBC that there isn't enough room for all the kit to go in.

If your locality is quite populated then you've got a good chance of your cab being one of those upgraded

Thankfully I don't think that will happen at my exchange as there only a few LLU providers there !

"up to" could be zero cabinets are missed out. We love to focus on the negative.

The number of cabinets included does not have to correspond to the number of lines covered. Unfortunately many cabinets in outlying areas may only serve a small number of end user lines so get left out, leaving a minority of cabinets that cover the majority of lines getting included.
