Dynamic IP address

Ever since i've been checking speeds (a considerable time) TBB has reported the first characters of my constantly changing IP address as either 81 or 86, for example 81.151.209.229.

To my surprise the test I did today reported these first digits as 109.

An elementary question then. Is that in any way significant?

It doesn't affect anything, but is significant in that it might indicate that your connection type has just changed, which could affect things. Or it could just be coincidence that you have always had the 81/86 range.

It seems to be a BT connection, perhaps originally "up to 8Mbps".

You may have been moved to a WBC connection if your exchange was recently enabled. Which exchange is it?

If you are happy to PM me the full IP address I can find out a small amount more, but not much.

Not really.. BT have a number of ranges and the 109 block is a fairly new addition but they also have been given some in the 31.x block too.
