Keeping line active cheaply while on holiday.

Hi all,
Im going away on a long holiday for 4 months soon and was wondering if there was any way or any isp that offers a very cheap fee purely to keep a line active rather than cancelling the line and paying a £49 activation fee again? The router wouldnt even be plugged in during those 4 months.
Ive been trying to ask my current provider, im directly with Murphx, but i cant seem to get through to them. Ill also ask O2 as im on a phone contract with them and Sky as i have SkyHS with them.

Eh? What's the problem? Just don't cancel your current connection! The subs for 4 months can't be much more than £49 and you won't have any delays getting a new connection. Or just migrate to O2; it should be even cheaper with an O2 mobile.

No ISP is gonna give you special rates to join but not use the connection.

Well im paying £25 a month so thats £100 for the 4 months. I might move to the cheapest Vivacity pack so i wont have any delay when i get back.

if possible I would swap to a cheap one with the existing provider and do it now before the holiday as some take a time to get changed

or.. there is always the plusnet deal for 3.xx for 6mths then 6.xx thereafter, but I think there is a £25 convert + £5 router fee

Sorry, my original reply was rather hasty.

But join O2 now and you get 3 out of the 4 months free anyway.

No worries xray. The Plusnet one looks decent but with the £25 fee it works out at practically the same for the cheapest vivacity deal at £17.70 or so a month. I do need a fairly high bandwidth of at least 75gig a month and then i can upgrade it to a higher package when i return. Ill still give Sky and O2 a call anyway and see what they can offer. I worry way too much about these details

How come you need 75GB per month when you aren't there?

I mean thats what i normally use so i cant just take up a long term contract isp to cover those 4 months without knowing what im getting afterwards.

And im off to canada.

You can.... just get the cheapest package for now & when you get back upgrade to unlimited

e.g. if you took bts 10 gb broadband for now, once your back upgrade to unlimited

or take skys free broadband now, once your back upgrade to unlimited.

They wont say no you can't upgrade & pay us more.
