BROADBAND SPEED

Hello All,

I have a wireless connection on my Desktop PC and also on two laptops. The newer laptop runs at 130 mbs as does the Desktop (I changed the adaptor for a faster one) the older laptop runs at 54 mbs. I notice that from time to time the connection fails and shows a message "limited connectivity" this occurs on both desktop and older laptop. The connection will then reset and work O.K. The other thing that I notice is that the speed deteriorates and also tends to recover. Usually it is possible to perform a "Repair" which will restore the speed back to the maximum. Is there any explanation for this strange behaviour?

Wireless interference, or just dodgy drivers, never got to the bottom of it on one of my PC's same spec machine someone else has and no problems in same property - go figure.

If they are Windows machines you could download InSSIDer and monitor what competing wireless is seen by each machine.

That's why they need InSSIDer. To see what's where, rather than random stabs .

OK Bob, didn't realise that's what InSSIDer did, I guess the clue was in the name, Doh !
