I shall test the quiet line now. When I ring up and I don't mention broadband, will they come and fix it and will this solves the internet?

Right, I did a quiet line test and the line was not completely silent, far from it. I got lots of white noise and spikes of static. Sounded like waves coming in on a beach. What should I do now then? Feel free to repeat yourselves I want to make sure I get this right.

I think it is all part of the O2 package, as we previously rang them about the problem, but I'm not entirely sure.

Was your router switched off and disconnected from the phone line when you did the quiet line test?

*facepalm* No, I'm guessing it needed to be?

It would be best. Otherwise the router might be causing the noise on the phone line.

Right, I shall go and do it now
--5minutes later--
Equal amounts of static noise/white noise. Lots of crackling. What now?

Report a voice fault (crackly line, noise) to whoever you pay the phone line rental. Don't mention broadband as that'll only confuse the issue. Fixing the voice line fault may also fix your poor ADSL.

How will they fix it and how long will it take etc? Thank you so much for your help!
