I think it is the average % uplift in speeds from current ADSL speeds. I could be wrong!!

Its an estimate of the likely increase in line rate over exchanged based ADSl2+ in a given post code area e.g. uplift 2.5 estimates a 2.5 times increase in line rate with VDSL2 over exchange based ADSL2+

In simpleton terms please?
Exchange is not currently ADSL2+ enabled
Currently sync at 3392 and uplift is 10

Your estimated FTTC sync would be 33920.

[censored] hell, looks like my cabinet is due to be enabled!!

My cabinet is due to be enabled; other cabinets in the main road have been, but the estimated date on the BT checker has moved from Sep 2010, Mar 2011, Jul 2011, Sep 2011 and is now Dec 2011. So its very much a case of waiting :-/

James - be* pro - on THFB - sync about 17.2mbps - BQM

Interesting, i grabbed a copy of that doc and checked my postcode, it appears the FTTC column lists me as FTTP rather than FTTC.

Does anyone know if this actually means BT are considering rolling out fibre to the premesis in the near future (within a few years)?

Urm FTTP is part of their fibre roll-out, not something a few years away, i.e. initial trial areas done, but found things took a bit longer to do i.e. more man hours than expected.

So yes areas will be getting it.

I know trials had been done but I didn't realise some areas were getting actual FTTP rollout.

What info is there on FTTP? Does that mean there will be an advanced selection of packages for FTTP users who can get much faster speeds, or will it just be the same kind of packages that BT offer in the "infinity" range, or whatever it's called.

Right now I'm on VM 50Mbit waiting on 100mbit upgrade which is not yet scheduled to be done in my area, although I did get the upload upgrade.

If BT can plumb in FTTP and provide 100mbit first then I might be on board that.
