ADSL2+ PCI Modem?

Hello all

I'm running a ESXi server here and i want to use one of the virtual machines as a m0n0wall / smoothwall router however im having alot of issues finding a pci adsl2 card???

i can see normal adsl ones but adsl2 seems to be slim and none? im on a 16mbit connection so its a pretty big requirement....

does anyone here know of any adsl2+ pci cards i can get hold of?

Hi, why not fit a PCI Ethernet Gigabit Network adapter card, and then you can connect any ADSL2+ modem/router, or is it because someone might nick the modem/router.

Being a 3Com enthusiast, I use one of these in my desktop�

Thanks for the info, i was thinking that actually, what i want to do is use the router itself as the boradband connection and wireless AP BUT i want all the firewall type stuff to go to the actual machine/VM so i can use the more efficient NAT/firewall etc then my plastic basic router

plus its a nice little project to add to my list of fun and games....

im a little bit new to this sort of setup so im not 100% sure how i would connect the router and tell PF sence/m0n0wall/whatever i choose to use that the gateway is the router itself and how i can route all my lan traffic to pf sence

Personally, I would run with a Ethernet Red interface and use an external modem such as the Vigor 120, utilising the PPP client of the VM.
YMMV.

if you have non-standard requirements expect to pay non-standard prices.

With a block of static IPs any old router would allow you to do what you want.
