Best speed?

With BT at the moment and switch to sky next week.

Out of curiosity, with the below line stats, what speed could I expect from sky's llu unlimited service and is BT providing the best they can with those stats?

Forgot to add, get about 5.5 meg internaly...

I get 90ms ping which is high... What can be done to reduce this?

You are getting about the best you can expect. You'd get much the same from Sky or any other ADSL2+ supplier.

90 ms ping to where? That's either high or to overseas. What's ping to bbc.co.uk?

Switching from Interleaved to Fast Path will reduce pings at the expense of some stability, if your ISP offers that.

I pinged BBC and got 42.5ms ping. Is this a more reasonable figure?

Also, what is the best upload I could expect with the same stats?

Just to add to XRaySpeX's comments, the download power looks a bit low - have you had problems?

Also don't be surprised if you find the initial connection with Sky is at 4Mbps. They seem to do that, then ramp it up over the first two or three days to a higher figure, (assuming a line is capable of more as yours is).

What do you mean by problems?

We have had occasional drop outs, but they now seem rare; although BT Vision seems one to moan on many occasions with BT often tweaking some line settings, not that supposed changes reflect in my router stats mind.

When you ref download power; what do you mean...

Quite technically minded, but a newbie when it comes to BB spiel.

Sorry, wrong wording. I was referring to "Output power (Down/Up) 10.3 dBm / 1.6 dBm".

The downstream power is normally higher than that, but it is sometimes lowered where there have been stability issues, or if your line has been causing cross-talk trouble on someone else's. In factI just noticed your upstream is odd as well.

Normal would be around "Output power (Down/Up) 19 dBm / 12 dBm". I wonder if your router or the exchange line card is faulty.

Lowering the power lowers the connection speed, so although I basically agree with XRaySpeX that you haven't got much more available, I think there is a little.

My ping to BBC was 26 ms Interleaved (it's only 11 ms on Fast Path).

Up Sync is not so limiting; probably whatever your ISP standardises at, usually 1 - 1.3 Meg.

I had noticed your power readings are unusually low, particularly your up one.

I'll wait and see what the DLM on Sky's equipment has in store for me...

As long as it rids of BT's Profiling and stays reliable like it is at the moment I'll be happy..

Hopefully Sky's support know what to do if i request power changes or interleaving modifications.

Do you guys have experience of Sky LLU or Sky's support for that matter?

Good! Report back your router stats with Sky, after it settles down after about a week, and we'll see how they compare.
