I think my meaning to the OP was clear enough when it was posted (1st reply to OP) I was just trying to express to the OP that Resellers offer shorter contracts than the Wholesale provider.. not implying that there were any shorter terms than a month. I often mention this when I read about people worried about TalkTalk being the only LLU on their exchanges. Maybe I'll just shut up in future.

Thanks for replies. Seems like I'm a bit stuck where I am then for the time being as both options - TT or a reseller - has compromises I'd rather not make at present.

I used a BB reseller and to be honest it was just like any thing else. You ordered the service, waited for the install and paid the money. The vivaciti one that replied is as good as any and you get what it said on the tin. I only moved to sky to get anytime+ (the other 1/2 wanted it, she who must be obeyed !).

What are the compromises you are concerned about with regard to the resellers?

Main one for me when moving to Vivaciti was having to go full LLU (Although partial is available now). Also had to pay an extra 20 quid to go unmanaged although this also made it unlimited.

The resellers seem to have more options with regard to the line than talktalk are willing to provide including changes to the target noise margin and removal of any DLM.

Compromise would be on money. I'm paying 11.99 a month and don't want to pay much more than that. So resellers are out I think.

Not sure if this is usual, but a whippersnapper from TT knocked at the door with a big selling pitch (got a sales letter in the post the previous day - not that clear i didn't think about the implications of a sign up, especially for those who are not too knowledgeable about broadband). I said no immediately and went to close the door quite politely. He kept up his patter in a challenging rather smarmy way. Never had a broadband doorstepper of this sort before. Very annoying indeed.

I just can not understand why at a market 2 exchange where TalkTalk is the only LLU provider (other than of course LLU resellers who are not generally known) that there can be any realistic choice (price wise) of an ISP if one wants up to 40GB usage per month.

Some of those market 2 exchanges seem to be stuck with that status for years which makes it impossible to find a deal with an ISP on IP stream, at a reduced cost, due to it not being in a "low cost area."

There seems to be something wrong with the system to me...
