Re: The 10 day training period ...

Okay, day 5 ...

When I ran the test last, it was about 10-11pm, and gave good throughput. However, this line is for an office, so outside of 9am-6pm is irrelevant.

Running the speedtest during the day ...

Download speedachieved during the test was - 4729 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4000-15881 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 15881 Kbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 862 Kbps
Maximum achievable is 1048 Kbps

Again, I'm new to ADSL - but a 10Mbps dropoff during the daytime just seems out and out unacceptable for an ADSL2+ Annex M line?

Do other (not part of BT Wholesale) tests show similar issues?

It is possible the issue is a capacity one, and if the small provider has a large business base, their peak time may be during the day.

Tests on TB and Speedtest net show the same results. The Tap3 test also shows ...

"Your service was found to be performing poorly."

So the ISP is to blame, not the line then?

Nothing has indicated the line to be a problem if memory serves me right, i.e. the copper wire to the exchange.

Probably something in the fibre or WBC network, Tap3 is meant to avoid ISP. So might just be exchange congestion if a LOT of businesses in that area.

Well, its pretty much a business park that we're in, surrounded by office buildings.

I guess there is nothing that can be done then frown

Well, I wanted to follow up on this.

Its been about 10 days now and the line should well and truly be trained. After a bit of investigation, the slow speeds I was seeing was a result of odd behaviour with the 2700HGV.

My Zyxel P660R-D1 arrived, I hooked it up and connected my Buffalo WHR-HP-AG108 (DDWRT) and ....

It syncs at 19500/2300 (Annex M) and in reality gives 17MB/2MB pretty much all day long.

I must say, I'm impressed and fairly happy.

When the Zyxel is in Annex A, it syncs at 2200 - vs. the 2700HGV at 18500 - what a difference!

... Now all I need to figure out is how to access the Zyxel interface when it is set up in full bridge mode (PPPOE by WHR-HP-AG108)
