new dsl technologies wanted

Hope you have been good.

Some time ago ( maybe a year ago ) there where some news about a new breakthrough in dsl technology that would mean fibre-like speeds on copper lines.... the technology seemed viable for quick deployment... well there have been no news on that awesome possibility.

Does any of you remember the news and has any info about it?

Alcatel's anouncement on vectoring? Though a bit of an exaggerated description of the tech, I suspect.

There is a technology know as MCttE, basically you Move Closer to the Exchange.

What your probably thinking of is WBC which is BT's version of ADSL2+ which gives up to 20Mbps speeds but a year ago was only available at perhaps 700 exchanges but they have been rolling this out to more. This is (basically) the same as has been offered by Sky and O2 at 1000's of exchanges for years, but it's BT's version so is carp.

How many times have I seen products with that claim? All of which are long defunct.

By definition there can be no such thing.
