Well looks like I am not the only one with the same sort of problems in the past. One on virgin and sky. They all had to used a proxy like I did.

I cannot even get to post a query on THEIR forum since, after I have gone through several layers on their site to try to post, then I start to get the timeouts again. It has just done it now when I tried so I am locked out again till I get a new IP.

So something is definitely nobbling my IP after it has accessed the site just a few times.

I've noticed that if I VPN into my company's network from my home
computer (ie connect via a proxy) then the site comes up no problem -
this is on the same computer immediately after finding the site down
without VPN.

It is more likely to be the SAYNOTO site, which may be set up to allow only so many uses to save their band width. If quizzed I have no doubt they will deny this. Sky only block sites flagged by the IWF, which most UK ISPs do.

Anyway off to bed. Done my head in trying to find out why I am having problems.
