Nope. Connection speed improvement should be immediate. You have removed the ring wire I hope? Even though it's an old type socket?

You sure it is the master? With the capacitor at the top, like the LJ 2/1A here, not the LJ 2/3A next to it.

Removed the ring wire, it is the LJ 2/1A yes

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
I just noticed the noise margin is high. That's the immediate problem. Have you been disconnecting and reconnecting a lot?

I've rebooted my router a few times over the last couple of days, not a lot and also changed routers this morning and then changed back
But before that I was connected for around 160 hours

I suggest just one reconnection as long as you do it before 4pm. Otherwise well into daylight tomorrow. Please take and post the stats immediately afterwards, as I want to see the noise margin at that point smile.

This is really wierd. Which router are you on now. You have got it going through a filter, and anything else in the place as well?

Which ISP is it? Just wondering if that would give a clue to the (almost) fixed speed. You did have 2271 recently.

Have you any idea what is causing these zero figures, and do both routers do it? Do they suddenly fill in?

Netgear, going through just the 1 filter now in the master socket instead of 2 before with the extension. Only 1 phoneline also on the filter, no sky box etc.

I'm with Orange, I had 2271kbps when connected to the Livebox
Since about a week downstream connection speed always shows 2264kbps even after a reconnect when before the figure always varied, even if only slightly

No idea, the Livebox only shows the downstream figures, the Netgear Stats all show 0 a few seconds after reboot then after a few seconds it shows everything except the upstream Line and Noise but after 10secs or maybe another 10secs it shows fills them in then

Ummmm.

2272 is the sync for a "banded profile" with a 2Mbps top limit, if there is such a band. That's the only thing that strikes me at the moment.

Just double-checking - you definitely once had a 27xx at that socket? It wasn't 227x? If it was 27xx, which router was it?

Is anything electrical/electronic sitting very close to or on another? Like video recorders or anything? Is it a cordless phone, and if so where is the base station?
