Just got an email from my ISP saying BT have activated 21CN on my exchange.
Ive noticed that my ISP (adsl24) are now processing an order for me to be switched over to 21CN on the 1st Feb. Is this done automatically as i never asked to be switched to it?
Any other differences i should be aware of? Im not bothered about adsl+ atm

The ISP will have made the choice to move you onto the 21CN platform. So not totally automatic.
Upstream speeds should improve. If downstream attenuation is under 50dB, then generally a welcome boost to download speeds. Better handling of the IP Profile too.

Yea when i said automatic, meant its not something i personally have to ask for?
Will upstream improve even tho i plan to stay on standard adsl and not upgrade to adsl+?

Define stay on ADSL? Do you mean remain on an up to 8Meg package?
If so, then this may switch to being delivered via ADSL2+, since that is the default mode for the hardware you will be connected to. Profiles are available to force down speeds to emulate ADSL

It is probable they mean they are moving you to ADSL2+, or did they say they wouldn't be doing that automatically, just moving your connection to the 21CN kit?
Does anything worry you about ADSL2+?

Email says "Once this upgrade has completed you will be able to regrade your service to the ADSL2+ frequency, potentially offering higher speeds at no extra cost."
Only worry i have with adsl2+ is stabilty. Ive had allsorts of problems with the 8mbit adsl, and just got it stable enough now. Dont want to mess with it and make it unstable again

Will upstream improve even tho i plan to stay on standard adsl and not upgrade to adsl+? Might depend on the ISP. My Dad is with BT and he was moved onto ADSL2+ without asking. One day he was syncing at 8Mb/s now he's at 15Mb/s.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7616 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.0 db 16.5 db
Noise Margin 7.0 db 25 db
There my line stats. Taken alot of messing around to get a stable line syncing at those speeds tho, hence im wary of upping the speed and making it unstable
