Thanks for your time again today RobertoS, much appreciated.

Evening,
Could anyone please fill me in on what to expect from an OpenReach visit regarding copper degradation ?
or point me in the right direction.
Cheers

Brilliant!
What did the engineer do? That looks as though he changed you onto a different pair, as well as removing the banding.
All we have to do now is find out why you aren't getting another 1Mbps above that! (Not joking!). Probably your home phone wiring.
Read my Ring/bell wire page.

Yes, he said there were 2 lines available and changed me onto another one that had 10db less.
You were right, his reader showed 2272 fixed and a fluctuating 37xx achievable before changing the line. He even rang Orange too as it was still connecting at 2272 after he had changed the line over at the exchange, top bloke, knew his stuff.
They still said I wasn't capped but something about "long line" and "cad" ?
Seriously, another Mbps would be great if possible, though I'm really pleased to have my sync rate around doubled.
Shortly after connecting this morning it dropped from 4760 to 4408 and has kept that since.
I was reading your page on Ring/bell wire earlier when wondering if the ring wire would have been re-connected when new block terminal and master socket were fitted.
It has the Openreach writing on it so I don't need to check on the ring wire, correct ?

Forgot to ask;
When using RouterStats Lite, what am I supposed to be looking at to determine the best time of day to connect to get the highest connection rate possible.
Thanks

Main rule of thumb is best speed is obtained by connecting well inside daylight hours. Dusk and dawn are less good, night is poor.
Fine-tuning within daytime is subject to a lot of variables, easily changing daily, but the higher the noise margin showing in RSL the more likely you will get a good speed. I wouldn't worry too much about it, with what you are getting.

I suggest you leave it a couple of days, then try a dangly filter into the test socket inside the master, with no extension lead. Take the stats like that, then immediately put everything back to normal and take them again. Post both sets. We need them as close together as possible as things change anyway over time, as you know .

I no longer have the extension lead, the router and phone go directly into a dangly filter connected directly into the master socket.
I will try the test socket though just to be sure the connection speed is the same/similar

If the NTE is your only phone point, and the engineer changed your NTE for an Openreach branded one, then there will be no difference between the front and the test socket.
