Swapping routers

Hi all, quick question for you, i'm currently using a Belkin F5D7634-4A-H wireless router (not sure if need all the numbers and letters but better be safe) and i've just bought Netgear DG834G router. I didn't get any software with the netgear router and i'm having a few problems setting it up, does anyone have a quick step by step guide to installing it? Also do i connect the new one to the old router before changing? Basically i dont know what i'm doing so would appreciate some help

Can only give general advice but look in current router for its ADSL settings, incl.

Broadband Username
Broadband Password
Protocol PPPoA/PPPoE
VPI/VCI /
Encapsulation VC MUX/LLC
Internet IP Address Dynamic/Static
IP Address
Subnet Mask
DNS IP Address Obtain from ISP/Manual
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS
Connection Type Always Connected/Auto - Trigger by Traffic
MTU

Swap routers, without connecting to filter. Put the values you found in similar fields of the ADSL settings of new router.

Connect to filter and hope

If using wireless, you may have to do similar with wireless settings.
