If you have more than just the A + B terminals then that is an extension - not the master socket. Are you able to post some photos somewhere that can show what wiring is connected?

Hi Ian, it's definitely the master socket into the house, I just think the previous owners may have connected all wires before they left, as they had cable before and I think they were keen to leave it as is, because of the rent conditions.

Not always, it is more than feasible that this is an LJU master, and terminating all six internal wires, as the OP says, 'for neatness' was common practice.

I'd still like to see some photo's or a clearer description of the set up, how the line is fed from outside, etc.
