Re: LLU Line Underperforming?

[re: RobertoS] [link to this post]

Hi
Its Master socket >filter > router rj11 cable > router.

I never have a a phone connected either - but I just borrowed a corded one just to test and when its plugged in I can hear a faint crackling/shhh sort of noise. Is a little noise normal or should there be absolutely no noise on the line? Would noise like that affect the dsl side?

Ideally, corded phone >> test socket, revealed when you remove the faceplate, then dial 17070 option 2. Should be silent apart from the girl telling you it is the Quiet Line test.

Hi
So I tested with the phone straight in to the test socket - can still hear faint crackling.
Tried router in there again and no change in line stats.

Did you do that quiet line test, or just normal dialling.

The only way you're going to sync higher is to find more noise margin to use. You should try Routerstats to monitor the noise on the line and see if you can reduce it.

About 1000 crc errors over the last 24 hours. 13 HEC and 107 ES

Batboy - I wonder if the noise I can hear on the line is killing my snr?

Possibly, the problem is the frequencies DSL uses is the same as MW radio, so you can't hear them. But the phone should be completely quiet.

On the QLT there should be no "a faint crackling/shhh sort of noise". The difficulty is getting it to show up on an automated voice line test, or if you can still get BT people on the line that they can hear it.
