TopCashBack has an infinity offer going under the 'BT Broadband Only' offer (Which if you click on the More Details arrow next to it, reveals: "This includes Infinity Broadband")

From what others migrating to Infinity have said, the £20 for BT Broadband on Quidco also covers it. Just not explicitly stated.

Cheers for the heads up on the TopCashback offer which I went for in the end.

Just have to wait till thursday before i can use the MAC i got from O2 which is pain.

Another quick question. With the Openreach 80/20 trials ending 10th April, will everyone who is getting 40/10 be able to get an upgrade (free or not) to the faster connection? What im basically asking is, will i be able to get 80/20 after the 10th?

Cheers.

Ok,

Many thanks to you helpful lot for pointing me towards the TopCashBack site.

I now have BT Infinity 40/10 (soon to be 80/20) working a treat and some lovely cashback on the way.

Cheers.

So now onto some other questions which im hoping someone can shed some light on.

Cables...would i benefit in getting a higher quality RJ11 cable to go between my new BT socket and the Openreach modem?

Also will Cat6 cables (shielded...unshielded?) make any difference from Bt Hub to PC/360. I had one spare that im using for my PC.

When the engineer fitted it all he checked the speed at the BT socket and said it was 39.9994 down and 9.993 up (or basically full speed) but im getting around 36 down 9 up once the signal gets to my pc. This is through the standard lengths of cable between Socket - modem - hub - pc.

If that drop seems normal then just tell me to quit whinging, but if there's something i could try to possibly increase speeds then im all ears.

Cheers.

If your linespeed is 39.9 your download speed will be around 37.6 due to the headers etc. Same for the 10 upload will be 9.4. this is quite normal and unavoidable.

Ah ok cheers kitcat. So its most likely nothing to do with cable quality or location then.
