Broadband Speed

Experiencing a speed slowdown in the last few days.
This is this morning's test :



BT Speedtester was similar.

These are my stats, can any of you kind gentlemen assist me as to what speed I should be getting wish such stats please?

BT Speedtester results about 3 weeks ago was around 6Mbps

No changes here in ages no new devices or configuration changes tested from Win7 Intel Core i5 laptop with wired connection to SpeedTouch 716g router. Router connected to filtered faceplate on master socket.

What IP Profile did the BT speedtest say you were on?

Latest BT test shows :

Download speedachieved during the test was - 4.5 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600 Kbps-7.15 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.1 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7 Mbps

A congestion or ISP problem maybe?

At least that speed test is faster than your earlier one

Try at different times of day to see if it's your ISP's lack of capacity.

Look likes you are only on ADSL Max. What exchange? Is it not 21CN enabled?

With those stats you should get throughput of about 6.7 Meg.

I saw 26th March as well...

Perhaps it's still the same and everyone left Demon which is why the forum is so quiet?

Ye I think I will try testing at different times when I can make the time.
Has been ok until recently 6Meg+ regularly, which makes me think it could be ISP capacity issues as nothing has changed this end equipment wise etc. although I can't really complain about Demon been stable and reliable until now. Might be time to consider a move if things go downhill.

Exchange is WNLMD Market 1 rural don't hold out much hope of anything other than 20CN ADSL Max for the foreseeable future tbh
