Software/firmware -- does not matter.

Why does it have to be a V5 - the only one I don't currently have access to. I have one in my Scottish location but cannot access it from here at present.

The V5 is similar to the later V6 ...

You need to connect the remote/slave to teh PC in te same way as before.

Then: select <SETTINGS> from the top set of tabs, followed by <LAN> at the next level down.

At the next level <Private Network> which will bring up a configuration page:

Uncheck the DHCP Enable button - so it is disabled (ignore teh warning as you do not want DHCP)

Under DHCP Network Range select <Configure Manually> and enter teh following:

192.168.1.100
255.255.255.0
"leave blank"
"leave blank"

and SAVE.


Disconnect the PC ...

Connect the two 2700s - any Port from the master and Port 1 on the slave.

Connect PC to the master, and check you have internet access - if not an IPCONFIG/renew (as before) may be needed.

Then, in a browser, 192.168.1.100 and you should have access to the slave 2700 and set up your wireless connection.

I have the second 2700 connected to a laptop with wireless signal disabled. The instructions you gace did not match my screen. What I see on my screen is as follows

"Top Line" Tabs: System, Broadband Link, Local Network, Voice Network, Firewall

Under System, I have the following tabs:
Summary, System Password, Date & Time settings, Details

Under Broadband Link I have the following tabs
Summary, Details, Diagnostics, Statistics, Advanced Settings

Under Local Network
Summary, Wireless Settings, Fusion settings, Advanced settings

Under Voice Network
Digital Voice

Under Firewall
Summary, Firewall Settings, Advanced settings

That didn't work at all unfortunately . Under the Tab 'Local Network' Sub Tab - Advanced Settings

Private Network :

Made the changes

'configure manually'
Router Address: 192.168.1.100 ( it was 192.168.1.254)
Sub Mask 255.255.255.0

DHCP unchecked

hit Save

However the unit will not now respond. When I type "Home" into the IE address box (http://HOME) it states "Internet Explorer cannot Display the Webpage" Can't get to that page at all, it just sits frozen or locked. The only thing I can see is by going through

Start, Run, CMD, Ipconfig/all which then shows
DHCP Enabled - yes
Autoconfiguration enabled - yes
Autoconfiguration autoadrdress 169.254.174.97
subnet mask 255.255.0.0

Any suggestions ?

That is what I would expect ...

Connect the two 2700s and connect yourself to teh primary/master.

Do an IPCONFIG/renew

Then see if you have web access ... then try the 192.168.1.100

because it was all just "frozen" and wouldn't allow me to do anything, I found the instructions for Reset to factory settings which I pressed. now using the DOS window and the Ipconfig/all command it shows

default gateway: 192.168.1.254
DHCP Server 192.168.1.254
DNS Server 192.168.1.254

Internet explorer will not go to http://home it sits frozen with the words
"waiting for res://ieframe.dll/offcand.htm..."

What next ?

Hi Richard, If you follow my original post it should help you configure your second 2700HGV router as the wireless access point.

This example is with the router default IP address� Important your main router and the wireless access point must be within the static IP address range.

http://192.168.1.254 >Home Network or Local Network >Advanced Settings

I have my main router Home/Local Network IP schema�

Static IP Addresses: 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.20

First DHCP Address: 192.168.1.21

Last DHCP Address: 192.168.1.250

Static IP Addresses: 192.168.1.251 to 192.168.1.255

Configure your 2700HGV wireless access point within the Static IP address range.

Change the router default IP address for security, change the third octet - choose something between 11 and 255, anything below 11 is fairly common.

Example: Change the router default IP address 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.19.251 all the home/local network settings must also be changed with the third octet to 19.
