I shall test again with the new cables and see what happens, and then maybe dig out a phone number for a frustrated time. Haha...

Quick update...
Everything is so slow right now (I have not done any changes yet) so I did a test again..

The noise is lower and the speed is nearly at 3000kb yet the download is shocking...

Very odd, compared to the other days results...
And it is 11pm!

Just thought I would share again.

I've been away.

Did you have RSL running when things changed? It's when that happens we need to see the graphs from a bit before to a bit after smile.

It certainly seems the "target" noise margin has been lowered, which helps the connection speed, but that you still have congestion.

No I didnt, I am on a different system. I will be changing the cables Monday as they should be here then will see how it goes... Just thought I would post. On uswitch I did a test and people in my area seem to get better connections so it is possible even though my distance from the exchange as we have said.

Distance from the exchange only affects connection speed. It doesn't cause time-of-day big swings, which are congestion. If you get under half the connection speed as throughput, (when wired rather than wireless), then you have a problem ISP. If wireless, you also need to check local channels in use, with InSSIDer.

Okay my cables have been in a few days.
http://i46.tinypic.com/24caau0.png

Okay, the max I have seen the connection speed is about 3800, so 3500 is good and improved compared to before in the 2000s...

However my download speed as I write this is 16kb/s which is a nonsense. (A rapidshare file, and they have good servers.) I cannot watch youtube videos really..

Hm.

3500kbps connection speed on a 9.3dB noise marging is excellent. (Edit - couldn't be butter crazy). On 6dB you wouldn't get more than 4Mbps.

The 16kbps download has to be AOL/TT congestion or traffic management. 16kilobits/s, or 16kiloBytes/s? 16kB/s = 128kbps which looks like a P2P cap.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre 80/20 trial.

Well it is dreadful any way.
Very slow.
Even when it is the middle of the night. I measured it last night at 2am and I could not do a thing.

Here is a reading from now.

As of now... I have a few windows open sure.. But still...Earlier it was 0.2 or 0.1 haha..

Been with them since 2001! It has been better than this before, but now the connection is better in cabling terms I had hoped this would pick up. I shall ring perhaps....
