That's some of it, thanks smile. Was that just after reconnecting to the internet, or just how things are at the moment?

There has to be a line with the actual connection speeds, like the 9344, but probably either 8128 or 7616. And an upload speed to go with it.

Did we establish your exchange. Given those stats that becomes important. The link to what samkows says would be ideal.

You should be on ADSL2+ (G.992.5) at your exchange. Have you forced it to G.DMT in your settings?

No, i've not forced the change. I've logged in to the livebox settings and tried to change it to adsl2+ but theres no option to change this.Im not sure if you have to press one of the 2 buttons on the livebox to make changes?

I've contacted Orange who say I have to upgrade to be able to receive ADSL2+. Interestingly this afternoon, my Livebox was showing connected to internet, however no internet would work on any devices connected to the livebox (mobile phones/laptop/PC. After disconnecting the connection and re-connecting, the internet worked fine. Annoying problem!

After reconnecting are you still on: Connection mode : G.DMT ?

Do you know if you are paying extra (£5?) for being out of Orange's network area?

Ye, still on G.DMT. I pay nothing. I joined Wanadoo just before Orange took over, then took out a mobile phone contract which gave free broadband if you had a phone with a £30 (or more) a month contract.
Not too fussed on the speed (cant grumble, its free), its just the annoyig problem with the router saying connected but then no internet is available on any device (keeps happening) even with a netgear router i was given. Frustrating.
