SNR Question

Hi all , Have been upgraded to ADSL2+ for a couple of months now and have always had a noise margin of about 15db. Today i have just noticed that it has been reduced to 6db, the Line Attenuation of 23.0 db remains the same, is this a good thing or not.
These are the router stats i have today.

Connection Speed 14330 kbps 1088 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0 db 12.6 db
Noise Margin 6.6 db 5.6 db

What was your connection speed when it was 15dB? I'm guessing 10-11Mbps.

Yes that's a 'good thing'

It looks like your line is running nice and stable and BT's systems have reduced your target noise margin and increased your sync(connection speed).

Your attenuation will remain roughly the same as that's an indication of your line length/quality. Have you also been monitoring your sync so you know if your connection speed has changed?

Yes, it's good; most good lines get 6 or 3 dB NM, but your sync speed should be about 5 Meg more.

Thanks Guys, Glad to know that it is a good sign that things are ok, unfortunately i have not been monitoring my connection speed but these are my router stats for the connection speed at the moment.

Do they look ok.

As X-ray said, it looks OK, but I would expect the downstream sync rate to be higher with that attenuation. What do the router stats look like if you reconnect the router in the test point of the NTE, with all else disconnected ?
