Is TalkTalk ADSL2+ ?

I Called TalkTalk about taking a new phone & broadband package, and they told me I would need a new line. TalkTalk have LLU operator Presence in my local exchange. Is the service they offer compatible with my ADSL2+ netgear router, or will I have to use their router? Whats their router like?

Yes, it is ADSL2+ and you can use any ADSL2+ router.

Thanks for the reply. Any ideas why I need a new line? is it just because Talk Talk don't want to pay to use BT lines?

Do you have an active telephone line to the property now, i.e. paying line rental to someone?

If yes, then they can use that, assuming you are willing to move the broadband and calls and voice line rental to TalkTalk.

We've not actually moved into the property yet, but the current owner has 2 lines with BT.

All lines between you and the phone exchange are BT Openreach, so TT have to pay them anyway. It's only at the exchange that TalkTalk's split off ito their own system.

In which case when the other person moves out the lines stop, and thus you are effectively ordering a new line, one of the existing lines will be reused to provide it.

I.e. you will NOT end up with 2 dead lines and one TalkTalk one.

The line is simply a new one in terms of in your name at the property.
