Differences in speed tests

Hi,
Why are there such big differences in both of the ThinkBroadband SpeedTesters

Using the normal tester I get :
65.8 down and 6.2 up

Yet using your flash tester I get :
68.53 down & 17.36 up

The flash tester is nearer to what I see with BT & Speednet.
( both of these report down around 74.5 )

But why the difference on the UP ?

Sounds like the ongoing problem. A fix is apparently in the works but these things take time. The only thing I will say is that for most of us the problem is that one or both of the testers underreports whereas for you they appear to be overreporting.

I think it's under reporting for me.
My BT tests are around 74.5 down and 15up.

Given the BT test is inside the network and thus not necessarily across Internet a better result is to be expected.

Java can go a lot faster than people see on FTTC for upload and packet size seems to be the reason.

The java will probably be replaced by the Flash, but until we are confident in the new tester it won't be released. A fair few changes are in the pipe line and once released I will be able to talk about it.

I thought Flash was deprecated in favout of HTML5?

Maybe in time, but for now flash still runs on lots of desktop platforms.
