Hi
I know I am asking about one of the opposition sites here but I keep getting the old 404 error (Site not found) when I try to look at the dslzoneuk site (www.dslzoneuk.net).
I am wondering if the site is down or whether TalkTalk ( my ISP - yes, I know I am daft to stick with them ) have blocked access because they always got such bad reviews! ... LoL.
Thanks
Paul
I stopped visiting ages ago after I kept getting hassle with me having to change my password all the time usually every few days, no website is worth that much hassle !
Hmm ... yes ... I can see that that would be very tiresome. Now you come to mention it, latterly I think I was finding the same problem.
Ah well ... RIP dslzoneuk. Good while it lasted!

p.s. I think it was an anti-spam measure but (as the forum was getting spammed all the time) surely there are better ways to limit spam !?

It needed to disappear I reckon. It has been neglected, apart from some very recent updates, for 5 years or more. This is a problem for a site that claims to offer information to help you choose ISP. This is a shame, considering that it once won awards for it. I believe the owner had trouble finding time.
I used to visit the site when I was on VM 10Mb and 20Mb years ago, when I was looking for decent speed testers. It's max was 24Mb, which was OK then. I used to contribute to the cable forum there. However very few actually used the forums. Occasional visits since then revealed even less visitors. They were from old-timers checking it out.
Its main problem has been failure to move with the times. It needed to update its speed test. It was still on 24Mb max last time I looked and it failed to detect your IP, so it couldn't add your ISP to its data base. It needed to begin to concentrate on the growing cable/fibre market or die, if necessary re-branding. Since there is no notice declaring that it has moved URL or re-branded, It appears to have died.

Yes it all started going downhill when James took over the running of ADSL24

I also used to use it years back but the site was clearly getting negleted so I stopped bothering, especially after some security issues.
There was eg. some very good ukonline discussion on there.

Yeah I got infected by malware and had to run scans to clear them from my PC.
Security is so important when running websites as you know !
