Yes, the number of tones has increased, also the minimum SNR has increased.

The attenuation has also dropped from 72db to 69db @300khz.

Coupled with the apparent higher signal strength and the additional tones getting through (at the top end) because of that, and there you have it...a higher than previous speed.
This is also not the only post on here reporting of unusually high ADSL connection speeds.

But it happened before it had got cold (again).

If just down to cold weather then it won't last and as soon as it's warm again the speed will drop. Well I guess I'll find out when it warms up.
