Newport and Swansea are the county areas not just the urban centres, their are a number of small rural exchanges in each of the counties.
Theirs likely to be some parts of the urban areas that will see upgrades as they have not been included in the commerical rollout but this will be with BT's own money, the public funding has to go to white rural area's.

Well looking at Wales on the Openreach where and when site, the rollout of FTTC is limited to 2 areas the m4 corrider (work is still on going at Swansea) and west of Chester/Wrexham that Openreach has deployed so far via their commercial deployment.

Which as usual leaves the Llandudno/C'Bay area waiting a long time. I suppose moving west is logical but Llandudno/C'Bay is hardly a pair of small rural welsh towns. Between them they probably have a population of over 50,000 and both have quite large business areas. I guess it makes sense to someone at BT but I've never understood it unless as someone on the news article suggested it's down to inept local councils.

hmmmm From the site FAQs. "The Enterprise Zone areas are a priority for the project as these are areas of economic importance for Wales. " clearly not as important as other Zones as we are not scheduled to get a look at this for at least another year - or longer.

I had missed the announcement that "Tidal Energy Ltd has consent for deployment of the first Tidal Flow device in Wales which will be located in Ramsey Sound." so that will make 3 power generation sites in the county when they build the planned facility at South Hook. Cant help feeling that the stated aims of the scheme and the actual "roadmap" don't add up. We have an EZ, and yet we are bypassed for the first phase, strange way of prioritizing - I still wonder about the politics at work here.

Some areas close to cities - where employment and services are within easy access of surrounding communities get priority over those further away where employment is hampered by poor infrastructure and services have been moved away to the urban centres it seems.

The first exchanges are spread quite a long way to the west in the North Wales corridor. No dates yet though

Bangor, Caernarfon, Dolgellau, Ebbw Vale, Menai Bridge, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Tredegar.

Looks like they are based around a node in Bangor and Porthmadog

South Wales first two are in a depressed bit of the valleys so certainly not what a lot of posters seem to fear for North Wales. Look forward to seeing the first set for Powys.

Although someone forgot that where it asks "how can I get it" the answer "Vote for the right political party or move to an area that already did" is the right answer - as they are the ones getting in first...

I mentioned that point in a letter to the Minister cc'd to my MP and to my AM. I feel there is a definite political flavour to the roll out = coincidence doesn't come THAT big!

I happened to be in Bangor today and noticed lots (well three or four) fibre cabinets already in place! They must have been there for a few weeks or more judging by the lack of 'recent' evidence of groundworks etc. However Bangor (WNBG) had not yet appeared in any roll out plans apart from the release last week of the Superfast Cymru scheme. Just seems strange that they are that far advanced without anyone mentioning it!
